Encouraging an increase in Japan's declining birth rate by altering the insufficient Equal Employment Opportunity Law

What is Independent Research?
Independent Research is a Gifted & Talented course in which students take the initiative of their education and have the freedom to shape their own curriculum by independently researching a topic of their choice. At the end of the school year, students showcase their knowledge through a synthesis paper, portfolio, and product. Additionally, students shape and leave a legacy through the presentation of their knowledge.
What was Natsuki's topic of choice?
She chose to research the most plausible way to prevent an economic downturn potentially caused from Japan's declining birth rate and aging population: encouraging women to join the workforce through the Equal Employment Opportunity Law. Natsuki researched the effects of the EEOL and formulated a proposal that encompasses the necessary revisions to the most recent version of the law. Additionally, necessary changes were decided through a comparison with Sweden's legislative and societal actions toward reaching ultimate gender equality.
